Since November 2018, the bus operator Albert Abt, based in Schwäbisch Gmünd, has been using two electric minibuses in public transport system. The two former diesel vehicles were electrified by the EFA-S company and now have a 90 kW electric motor, an energy management converter and 372 individual battery cells that allow a range of approx. 200 km. The complete charging of the battery takes about four hours. In addition, the drive design also allows recuperation, meaning that braking energy is fed back into the battery.
EFA-S relied on ARADEX technology for electrification: both the electric motor and the inverter come from the ARADEX range. The 90 kW electric motor is optimally designed for the requirements of traction applications with a maximum torque of 1150 Nm and a nominal speed of 1450 rpm. The inverter, which is a standard VECTOPOWER product, is responsible for the optimized current and voltage conversion in the system with a voltage range up to 770 volts and a peak power of 320 kVA, making it an ideal combination product for the electric motor used .
We are delighted with the outcome of the successful electrification and the big step towards electric mobility in the town of Schwäbisch Gmünd.
