In January 2019, the time has come: At the Stuttgart Travel Fair CMT, the first market-ready motorhome equipped with a pure electric drive will be unveiled. This is a cooperation project of the Stuttgart-based electric vehicle specialist EFA-S and the Iridium brand of the WOF motorhome distributor. EFA-S has electrified the complete powertrain for a commercial vehicle chassis provided by WOF: from the batteries via the engine and the battery and engine control to the direct drive of the front axle. We are especially pleased to announce that EFA-S has again utilized the tried-and-tested components of ARADEX when it comes to retrofitting the drive, as in previous projects. This includes a synchronous motor of the product line VECTOMOTOR, which is optimally designed for traction applications with a rated speed of 2675 rpm and a maximum torque (1 min) of 700 Nm. For optimized energy management, an ARADEX inverter of the VECTOPOWER product line, which was suitably geared to the VECTOMOTOR motors, was also used. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are the energy source – thanks to the integrated charger, they can be charged to conventional sockets as well as wall boxes with up to 22 kW or via CCS connection to fast charging stations with up to 50 kW. The range is currently already 300 km, EFA-S, however, predicts longer ranges in future due to capacity increases in batteries. The motor home of the brand “Iridium” should already be available from 2019.
