The ARADEX business partner and specialist for fuel cells Proton Motor Fuel Cell from the Bavarian town of Puchheim has received a major order from ebe EUROPA GmbH, a manufacturer of electric buses. This includes the provision of 15 hydrogen fuel cells to be used in electric buses for Frankfurt am Main, Mainz, Münster and Wiesbaden. For the integration of the fuel cells into the drive system, Proton relies on the proven power electronics of ARADEX: The VECTOPOWER technology optimally adjusts the current and voltage to the naturally fluctuating voltage level of the fuel cells. This means that it can reliably convert hydrogen into safe, efficient and, above all, clean energy.
The fuel cells have a power output of 60 kW each. The contract, worth more than 4 million, is the result of the first of two calls for tenders from the EU-funded “JIVE-PROJECT”, which promotes hydrogen vehicles in Europe. These calls for tenders will launch 290 hydrogen buses on the road over the next two years.
The ARADEX AG is pleased about a further cooperation with Proton as well as over the increasing electrification of the bus fleets in the city districts.
