Approach: Utilize the excellent controllability of electric drives and VirtualSensor

Our VirtualSensor technology enables the drive torque of pumps to be determined in high resolution and in real time – without any additional sensors. The torque moni-toring can then be used to both monitor and optimize the pumping process.


Additional benefit 1: Increase in actual pump performance

VirtualSensor detects both cavitation effects and foreign objects in the material being pumped. Specifically, the viscosity can be determined for slurry pumps. This allows the addition of water to be optimized so that the maximum transport capacity of the material to be transported is achieved.

Additional benefit 2: Diagnostics for predictive maintenance

VirtualSensor technology can also be used for diagnostics as part of predictive maintenance. If the pump is operated with clear water, e.g. during cleaning processes that take place anyway, then the viscosity is also known at a known temperature. If you then compare the torques at two different speeds with measurements taken when the pump was new or after maintenance, you can draw conclusions about the condition of the pump based on any differences.
